Katherine Lampert is a Chicago based painter whose work investigates color, texture, and the relationship between nature and technology. Her multi-layered painting process begins with a digital study of pattern in nature, such as a cloudscape, the lace-like remnants of a two billion-year-old fossilized sea creature, or the unusual markings on a rare tropical insect. These images serve as inspiration and a point of departure for her semi-abstract works. Katherine earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Art Theory and Practice from Northwestern University.
