"Formally educated in Architecture and Industrial Design, and studying ceramics under Dolores Fortuna, I began as an Abstract Expressionist painter, and currently exploring three-dimensional, abstract objects, using discarded and found materials, which I reconfigure, mount to canvas or hardboard and finish with acrylics."
"While I think artist’s statements are irrelevant (the art should speak for itself), unless the work is figurative or illustrative, the artist’s intention is not relevant. What is important is what takes place in the viewer’s psyche during the first, and subsequent, encounters with the art. These are unique experiences. I hope my work speaks to each in a way that causes he/she to cull up his/her own stories, as prompted by the art.
I like to think my art, in dealing with the chasm between material, technique and vision, reflects spirit taking form; form then becoming spirit, in some manner."
